To the very first aeronauts the earth appeared to be a flat plane. Hence the name airplane was appropriately given to these flying machines. This obvious truth should never escape the notice of a trained pilot. Such is the case with Amelia Earhart. Born in July 24, 1897; Earhart was the first female aviator to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. She received the United States: “Distinguished Flying Cross,” for this accomplishment. She set many other records, wrote best-selling books about her flying experiences and was instrumental in the formation of The Ninety-Nines, an organization for female pilots. In 1935, Earhart became a visiting faculty member at Purdue University as an advisor to aeronautical engineering and a career counselor to women students. She was also a member of the National Woman’s Party and an early supporter of the Equal Rights Amendment.
As a pilot, Amelia would often get lost. The reason for this is because the maps often were found to be inaccurate. This is because nothing was ever where it was thought to be. In the early days of aviation, pilots often were lost because the world was nothing like it seemed. One reason for this is that land masses were often exaggerated in size in order to bolster their importance. For example, France is over twice the size of England (37 percent larger), containing 643,801 square km, while the United Kingdom contains 243,610 square km, yet on some maps England and France appear the same size. Africa is approximately 4 times as bigger than North America, yet on the maps of Amelia Earhart’s day, they are often shown to be the same size.
Another problem with the maps is that they were drawn on a spherical globe rather than a flat plane. This often grossly distorted the longitudinal and latitudinal lines of geographical reference, making it nearly impossible to know exactly where anything was at all. For example, if we plot on Google earth a course from America at 30 degrees north latitude and go 270 degrees west longitude, we should end up in China. However, according to google earth, it would take you into Australia, not China. This is a problem, because either the Google earth is incorrect, or the Earth is not a globe.
The Earth is not a globe. If the Earth is not a globe, then it must be another shape. The ancients have proposed that it is flat and not round.
According to the Old Testament, the Earth has a face, which by all indications leads us to conclude that the earth is flat. Genesis 1:1In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. 2And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
Genesis 1:29, And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which isthe fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat (KJV).
Genesis 6:7, And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them (KJV).
I believe Amelia Earhart came to discover that the earth is flat but was never allowed to reveal it to the world. Whether she really died in an airplane crash or not will probably remain one of the world’s greatest unsolved mystery. However, I have a sneaking suspicion that it is no coincidence that her death coincides with the secret of the flat earth.
